As the Red Tailed Black Cockatoos return to our property at this time of year I am always inspired to paint them.

The bird is the focus of the paintung whilst being tbe motif on the vase. The cockatoo is surrounded by flowering gums and the vase is filled with banksias, bottlebrush and eucalyptus. The arch vase is a stylized shape which acts as a second frame while echoing the shape of a stained glass window.

There is a balance of bold and intricate linework on top of textured and light filled watercolour washes. Watercolour washes fill the spaces created by the ink line work and makes the piece look like stained glass.

Painted with artists quality materials on 650gsm textured watercolour paper, the paper is deckled on all edges which look beautiful in a float frame.
